失望

Personally I've seen all too many friends become consumed by their expectations only to be frustrated with disappointment. I can't say I haven't also experienced such cases of frustration. A wise supervisor once quoted to me what was said to him earlier in his life by a buddhist friend, "Disappointment stems from the root of expectation. Expect nothing, and you will always be pleasantly surprised". To this day, I always keep this tenet in the back of my mind.
